I think everyone here is aware of the accident in Lahore on the 26th of November in which a 2 month old baby tragically died because of the recklessness of a Porsche driver.What we also know is that the driver of the Porsce is the owner of Nirala Sweets.

Since the incident, the owner of Nirala (Faisal Farooq) has spent much of his time intimidating the victims of the accident, and any journalists who have reported on the issue. In fact, Faisal Farooq was directly responsible for taking armed thugs to the hospital where family of the deceased baby was recuperating. These thugs used violence in an attempt to get the family to not lodge a complaint with the police. Thankfully enough, the victims of this incident have been brave enough to press charges, and have refused to be intimidated.

Faisal Farooq has shown a flagrant disregard for the law, and his actions have shown him to be a man lacking any shred of human decency. He has been able to do what he did because of his wealth and power, both derived from his position as the owner of Nirala Sweets.

Boycott Nirala, to show your solidarity for the victims, and to show that you will not, in any way, condone the activities of Faisal Farooq.

I'm not in Pakistan, but I've heard that there was a series of SMSes sent out asking people to join the boycott. I would request you all to further spread the word in any way you can. Tell your friends, tell your schools, post online in other forums and communities etc.

Hmmm what do you do with someone you hold very dear and ‘he/she’ turns out to be a m’fkin lier? Series of co-ordinated bomb blasts in Mumbai, Srinagar

I’ve just started following the coverage of this series of 7 bomb blasts in first class coaches on local trains on the Western Line in Mumbai. There have been blasts all along the Western Railway line.

1. Khar / Santacruz
2. Bhayandar / Mira Road
3. Just before Borivili
4. Matunga
5. Jogeshwari
6. Mahim
7. Bandra

Over hundred are feared dead with 400 injured. The last time India was hit with such a wave of blasts after the Babri Masjid debacle the results were duly reciprocated in Pakistan.. I hope our authorities are vigilant enough this time round. Else we’ll be witnessing the same carnage being repeated in Pakistan.

My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and I hope this cycle of violence ends for ever, soon.

Therefore, no one using a World Call connection will be able to access WCCFTech. This site is THE most über technical treasure chest out there... ALL your technical questions are solved here within minutes! The most stick-together community ever! There is a special attention games, professional hardware reviews by professional reviewers, and best of all, it is 100% Pakistani and run by 100% Pakistanis! I don’t usually use my blog for writing purposes it’s more of a tool for me to show my photographic talent (or the lack there of) to some of my friends in the online community. But the recent row over the publishing of cartoons impersonating Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) has compelled me to write a few words about this extremely insulting act of various publications of EU member states.

The list of European countries in which it is a crime to deny the holocaust is surprisingly long:

Austria
Belgium
Czech Republic
France
Germany
Israel
Lithuania
Poland
Slovakia
Switzerland

Now, regardless of how silly it is to deny the holocaust, to make it a crime to voice that opinion flies in the face of the claims that these countries have true freedom of expression.
It also makes me wonder as to why is there a legislation against imagery that hurts the feelings of all those barely 15 million Jews in the world? Since, when they publish something that offends the 1 billion Muslims of the world, it’s conveniently cited as 'freedom of expression and that of their press'.
If editors of newspapers truly believe their oft-repeated claim that Islam is a peaceful religion whose good name is being hijacked by a few extremists, why depict the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) - the founder of this peaceful religion - specifically as the one with a bomb in the turban, a scimitar in his hand and a crazed expression on his face? Surely a more suitable candidate for such pictures would have been Bin Laden, Abu Musab Zarqawi or Al-Zwahiri.

Is the freedom to insult other people's faith just because you can something to be proud of? or does it really take a 'Holocaust' to gain respect?

In the end I can only hope that rationality prevails and the Europeans realize that by acting in this manner they are only playing into the hands of the Islamic extremists who will for ever use this disgusting chain of events as grounds for recruiting more people for their so called ‘holy’ war.

It’s the third day today since the massive earthquake hit Pakistan. According to an estimate around 17 cities got heavily affected by the quake. The majority of the affected areas are still lingering on without any material help. Pakistani government has made repeated frantic calls for more rotary wing aircrafts since most of the roads leading into these cities have been rendered useless due to heavy land sliding. The 72 hour window of opportunity is fast closing for the people still buried under tons of rubble in various northern cities where no relief teams (including Pakistan Army) have reached yet for one reason or another.
The confirmed death count as of now is somewhere around 20 – 40,000. But this is strictly an estimated body count. Authorities have no idea as to how many people still remain under the rubble hence there is a strong possibility that this no. might again catapult in a day or two when relief efforts will actually reach the far flung and the hardest hit areas. The threat of disease due to decomposing bodies buried under the rubble, fast deteriorating living conditions, lack of food and medical supplies is fast becoming real as well to the millions of people who have been stranded due to this natural disaster.
It is still heartening to see that the world didn’t turn its back on the quake victims in Pakistan. There has been a tremendous response to Pakistan’s calls for international help in carrying out relief operations. Millions of dollars are getting piled up in relief funds and many teams from across the world have landed in Pakistan to take part in relief efforts. As a Pakistani myself, I just want to say Thank You to all the people who are playing a part in on going relief efforts in Pakistan.

According to current estimates the no. of people dead has catapulted to 18,000 with the majority of causalities occurring in the Kashmir region (17,020). Till as of now no major rescue party from outside has reached the affected region so there is a strong possibility that death count might increase. Rescue teams from all over the world including Britain, Germany, Russia, Abu Dhabi and Turkey are on there way to Pakistan to help in relief, search and rescue operations.

UPDATE:

And the catastrophe continues to unfold. AFP has just quoted Minister of Works and Communication of Azad Kashmir that rough estimates put death count in the Kashmir region alone at somewhere around 30,000. This is the worst ever natural disaster to struck Pakistan. My thoughts and sympathies are with the families of those who died. And may God bless the souls of those who perished in this natural calamity.

This picture depicts the aftermath of the quake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The completely devastated city shown in the picture is 'Balakot'. May God Almighty have mercy on the souls lost in this calamity.

As many of you may know by now that yesterday at around 8:50 am local time a severe earthquake measuring 7.8 on the richter scale hit Pakistan's capital Islamabad, NWFP and Kashmir. Right now the no. of people dead resides at over 3000 and is expected to rise. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and many have lost their loved ones. In this hour of need the affected Pakistanis need all the help they can get.

I have a very bad habit of thinking while I write. It makes the words get all entangled up in my mind and I end up making a haystack out of my ideas.
I wonder when would I ever be able to translate my thoughts into writing, or how would it feel to translate your feelings and your frustrations in words.
But can empty words describe emotional trauma, are they mature and sensible enough to depict love? and are words capable enough to depict the complex anomalies of human emotions?
